ch.2 Creditors

Soon Lin Yun put away those thoughts and shifted his attention to the strength of his new body. That was what Lin Yun really cared about.

The experience of surviving 20 years in a post apocalyptic world, made Lin Yun adapt a frenzied attitude when it came to mana. Otherwise he may have not survived in that era. Fierce sand monsters, unusually high temperatures, deadly radiations from the void storms. There were a lot of things that could kill him.

What helped Lin Yun to survive in that era wasn’t a good family, nor a hope of a bright future. It was the mana that he could wield.

Lin Yun didn’t care about how embarrassing his situation, nor how much debt he owed now. After all the strength of a level 9 apprentice wasn’t high enough. If Mafa was an archmage, who would dare to come to him with 8000 gold coin contract. Hell, even if it was a 80,000 contract, nobody would dare to demand him to pay it.

After careful inspection, Lin Yun discovered that the body of Mafa Merlin was actually quite good. Although a level 9 apprentice wasn’t worth mentioning, his foundations were quite solid. Perhaps because of the diligent training. His mana has been accumulated enough to reach the critical point of forming a vortex. The reason that he didn’t advance yet, was that his control over mana was lacking.

But this was a simple task for Lin Yun. After all he spent more than 20 years in the post apocalyptic era calculating how to use less mana. After 20 years, his control over mana was impeccable.

In fact, not just Lin Yun who was like this. Every mage in the era of mana depletion was like this. They would withstand the deadly radiation and the high temperature for a few days in the desert to absorb a bit of mana from the void storms.

Lin Yun who grew up in that environment, was more superior to the magi of this era when it came to controlling the mana. What Mafa couldn’t do was nothing at all for Lin Yun.

Lin Yun spent almost 10 minutes to know about his new body.

After 10 minutes, Lin Yun’s understanding of this body was no less than Mafa Merlin himself. So he started pushing the already accumulated mana. Under his control, the mana flowed like water.

At the beginning the flow was soft and steady, like a winding stream. But with Lin Yun’s urging, it turned into a raging river, rushing and impacting his new body.

For most apprentices, this the most critical moment. Once one lost control over the mana, he’d be swallowed by it. If the mana dispersed, he’ll have to start accumulating it again, and probably lose the chance to form a mana vortex forever.

That’s the reason why there’re so many apprentices, while there are few magi. Mafa has been stuck in the nine level mage apprentice for 3 years, but he never dared to take the last step.

However, Lin Yun didn’t have such problem.

Lin Yun’s control ability was so strong, that he practically didn’t need to do anything. Just pushing the mana to the limits and let it run freely like a flood destroying a dam. Then his body instincts will kick in and naturally control everything. The flow of mana seemed violent, but it actually flowed along the path set by Lin Yun.

In a blink of an eye, a mana vortex was formed in the body of Lin Yun.

Once an apprentice reaches this point, he becomes qualified to wear black robes. He just needs to spend some time to stabilize the mana vortex and his advancement can be considered complete, successfully becoming a mage.

But Lin Yun didn’t stop. As if he didn’t know that the mana vortex formed. He pushed the mana to the limits. But the newly formed vortex was extremely fragile and couldn’t withstand the impact of overloading mana, so it went *poof* and then collapsed.

Lin Yun wasn’t anxious at all. He just continued to push the mana to form the vortex with that violent method, to have it collapse again under the impact of overloading mana.

This cycle was enough to stun any mage. It lasted more than 10 times, before the vortex finally stabilized.

By that time, Lin Yun was unable to break it again. So he happily sent the mana into the vortex.

The quiet and silent vortex, with the arrival of mana began to rotate slowly and unceasingly. Lin Yun raised his hand. There were numerous runes emerging from them. Violent magic fluctuations filled the room and the sound *Zzz..* could be heard.

If any mage witnessed it, he'd have to admit that was the most perfect vortex with high explosive powers and could be compared to the top magi. The most amazing thing was that the time it took to complete it was just a few minutes.

In this era, only Lin Yun could do this.

Because it would take many years for magi to master the mana control ability and achieve enough proficiency to form the vortex this way. Not only can this method shorten the time to form the vortex, but it also increase its capacity and explosive power. But it will take hundreds of years for magi to develop this technique.

The runes were dispersed. Lin Yun was going to further improve his mana vortex, when he heard a sound coming from outside.

“ This is a clear case. My cousin took away 8000 GC from me, before going to the sea. Now he screwed up his business. Who’re going to compensate me now? But I’m not an unreasonable person. I know that you have no money right now. How about selling me this mansion. I will suffer a loss and give you a discount and buy it for 10,000 GC, so that in addition to returning my money, you will have 2000 GC on hand ”

The sound coming from far away was hoarse and worn out like the quacking of a duck. Lin Yun, who was thinking about improving his mana vortex, was bombarded with such noise. How can his mood be good?

“ You seems excited about collecting your debt ”

Lin Yun clenched his teeth and was thinking about what to do.

'Should I go and twist the neck of that quacking duck.'

While Lin Yun was hesitating, the door was pushed away suddenly, and a fat man weighing 300 pounds entered followed by a 60 years old man, the two seemed arguing about something.

“Let go, you hear me, I told you to let go, Pavier, you old geezer, don’t think just because I’m polite to you, you can do whatever you want, you’re just a butler, things aren’t up to you, they’re up to your master”

“Farion, what’s with the 8000 GC? You know it was given to you by the old master, Have you even paid a copper coin, now the old master is gone so you want to embezzle his mansion, How can you be so shameless? ”

The old man slammed Farion’s arms, perhaps because it was painful or because of his anger, the wrinkled face of the old man became red, with his finger nearly poking Farion’s face:

“ I tell you, Farion. Unless I, Pavier, am dead, you will never have the mansion”

“Old man, are you threatening me? ”

The fat guy became angry as the old man mentioned the truth about the contract.

“ you better know your place, be careful of...”

The two of them were arguing when Lin Yun curiously asked:

“ Be careful of  what ?”

Farion stopped half way because he found that the speaker wasn’t the old butler but his nephew who was said to have the potential to become a mage.

Farion has always been full of disdain towards that statement, who can’t be a mage with all that gold spent on him.

Not to mention now after Rogge’s death, all he done was overworking himself  to pay his debts, if he had the potential to become a mage would he stoop so low.
