Ch.3 Right hand

Farion spat on the ground while wondering what was happening today, he was doubtful. He was holding the debt contract, but Mafa didn’t fawn over him. In fact he looked him up and down as if he was some sort of a clown, not a creditor.





Farion wanted to threaten him with some words, to make him beg for mercy, but the words stuck in his mouth. Farion found that he didn’t have the courage to face his nephew, nor speak to him.





“ Be careful of what you can't control. Anyway I’ll say this, if you don’t sell your mansion to pay off your debt today, I’ll hand the contract to thousand sails city’s chambers of commerce’s union and no one will dare to do business with your [Goldshire] chamber of commerce”





When these words came out, the old butler’s face distorted.


Farion’s method was indeed vicious. The old butler knew that this situation was only temporary, even if they sold the mansion to pay of the debt. After all the reputation that the old master built for decades wouldn’t just disappear because of the shipwreck incident. If it was given enough time, the [Goldshire ] chamber of commerce would completely get out of its current predicament. Maybe it’s impossible to restore its former glory, but at least it’s enough to support the young master to continue his magic studies. Maybe he’ll have the chance to become a mage, maybe….





The contract mustn’t be handed to the chambers of commerce’s union.

Reputation is the foundation of any chamber of commerce. Once the union decide to adjudicate, things will get out of hand.





The old butler's face gradually turned white, and his right hand that was holding Farion’s arm gradually trembled.





Lin Yun on the other hand looked as carefree as he could be, as if he didn’t even hear the threats of Farion. He even was in the mood to joke with the old butler.

“ I always said that Uncle Farion’s always cared about us, he’s even worried that no one will do business with us anymore”








“ You must be joking, young master ” 

the old butler didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.





Lin Yun smiled and didn’t say much. He held a lot of respect for this old man. The old butler stayed with the [goldshire] chamber of commerce until the end, trying his best to take care of Mafa Merlin. That was above the responsibilities of a butler.





“Okay kid, let’s talk business”

 Farion’s skin was thick, and Lin Yun couldn’t help but feel annoyed.

“You already saw the contract, your father owed me 8000 GC. either pay them now or use the mansion to pay back. I have business to attend, so don’t waste my time ”





“ The mansion is out of the question. The price you offered is too fair, that I’m afraid you’ll suffer a loss”


To use a mansion worth 100,000 GC to pay a debt of 10,000 was by no means fair.





Farion didn’t mind the sarcasm in Lin Yun voice, and asked.

“So, you’ll pay?” 


“ I guess so. ”


"Will you really pay the money?"


The answer surprised Farion, he felt that he couldn’t understand what was going on any more. The entire thousand sails city knew that after the shipwreck accident, the [goldshire] chamber of commerce didn’t have a single dime left after being raided by the creditors and families of victims.


Now, the mice won’t even enter. So from where will he get the money.


'That’s impossible.'


Farion coughed twice while trying to calm down himself .

“ That’s good, if you have the money that would be for the best, now bring the 8000 coins”





"There is no problem with paying back the money, but Uncle Farion, I only come back few days ago. You have to give me some time to figure things out. I have to make sure that no one is conning our family? Oh sorry, uncle Farion , I didn't mean you are a con man "





"Are you joking with me?" 

When Farion heard this, his face darkened, staring at Lin Yun like a poisonous scorpion.

 "Jimmy, Jimmy, Get here right now!"





A few macho gangsters rushed through the door. Their boss was a bald man with a big scar on his face.


"FARION!" 


Watching this group of people rush in, the old butler suddenly changed his face, and he did not care about his old age. He stood up facing those gangsters


"Farion, This is too much, did you forget how the master treated you when he was here? Now, you hired those thugs for the sake of a measly eight thousand gold coins!"





The old butler lived in thousand sails city for a long time, so how couldn't he recognize these people. They were infamous thugs that made a living by being loan sharks. They had taken a lot of lives on the course of their careers. Especially, their boss Jimmy, he had connections to the underground.





“Get out of the way, Old man”


Jimmy didn’t put the the old butler in his eyes at all. He raised his hands and pushed the old butler the ground. Then he looked at Lin Yun and said.

"Hey kid, Your name is Mafa Merlin?”


“Was it your right hand?”


“Huh..?”


“Was it your right hand that used to push Pavier?”

Lin Yun asked patiently.


“What nonsense are you spouting?” 

For Jimmy who had a notorious reputation during his long career as a lone shark and a previous member of the red scorpion gang, that was like a slap in the face.





Feeling humiliated by the way Lin Yun talked to him, He raised his right hand to slap Lin Yun’s face.


Lin Yun’s expression didn’t change as he caught the hand coming his way, and polity asked:


“Would you like it well done?”


“Huh…?”





What followed was a scream. Then a thick scent of a roasted meat filled the room. When they looked around, they saw Jimmy’s right hand was on fire all of a sudden. It was cooked thoroughly under the blazing flames.


It was exactly well done, no more, no less.


Jimmy wasn’t weak by any means. When he was in the red scorpion gang, he even managed to kill a mage once. Otherwise, he couldn’t have survived in thousand sails city, where good and bad apples are mixed. 


It was a pity that he met Lin Yun, a monster that formed his mana vortex in less than 10 minutes, and can be considered an exceptional mage. Although, he was only a level 1 mage, he could destroy Jimmy 10 times.





Lin Yun didn’t even chant any spells. His hand just caught on fire all of a sudden, and that was the end of an infamous villain of thousand sails city.





As he let go of the burnt hand, Lin Yun didn’t seem to hear the screams as he looked at his uncle Farion and smiled.





Farion just fell to the ground as his face bore an incredible expression with his eyes and mouth wide open while thinking that the situation didn’t go as he expected.





What he imagined, was that he would threaten the kid a little, and the kid would just hand him the mansion’s deed. But now Jimmy, the source of his confidence was lying in the ground screaming while holding his burnt hand, while the kid was looking at him with a weird smile.





Farion thought that this smile looked similar to how the kid smiled at Jimmy before burning his hand. Farion couldn’t help but take a few steps back, while shouting:

“ wha...what do you want to do? I,I,I,...I am your uncle, If you hurt me, I will…. ”


“Stop joking, Uncle. I don’t have time to hurt you. I’m very busy”


Lin Yun smiled and walked past Farion to help the old butler who fell to the ground. Then he looked back at Farion and said:

“I’ll get you the money in three days.”


Farion was stunned. He stumped as he left through the door before turning back and saying:

“ well, you’re a grown up now, not giving your uncle any face. I’ll come back in 3 days and see what you’ll get me.”
