Ch.4 The mage

Watching the retreating figure of his uncle, Lin Yun looked at the two thugs brought by Jimmy and asked

“what are you waiting for? Dinner ?”

The two thugs who were petrified, came back to their senses.

 “Ah, we’re going...”

After the two thugs, the mansion became quite again. Lin Yun helped the old butler to sit on a chair and bandaged his arm, But the old butler was frowning and asked:

"Young master, about the 8000 GC, what will we do?”

“Don’t worry, I’ll find a solution”

Lin Yun said casually. That wasn’t because he didn’t have any sense for money. On the contrary, he was more frugal than anyone else. However for a mage whose abilities is better than anyone in this era, 8000 GC were nothing. He had many ways to earn this amount in 3 days.

Despite how efficiently Lin Yun dealt with Jimmy, his mind was a mess. He’d just experienced reincarnation and occupied an unfamiliar body. How could he have time to worry about insignificant 8000 GC.

The old butler couldn't help but notice the awkward look on the young master’s face. He became anxious and said:

"Young master, we can’t really secure this amount of money for the time being. In order to pay the creditors, and compensate the victims’ families, we sold all of our properties ”

“I remember that father transferred the ownership of the alchemy shop under my name, when he was alive”

Lin Yun said after carefully searching Mafa’s memories. The alchemy shop was under Mafa’s name, but was managed by Rogge. Rogge did this to make it easier for Mafa to buy magic materials.

“The shop’s still there, but …..”

“But what?”

“The three alchemists who were working there, left after the accident.”

The old butler said as he shook his head. The alchemists were the most important element in the alchemy industry. The old master spent a lot of money to hire those three alchemists. If they stayed then, restoring the Goldshire business and paying the 8000 GC wasn’t a difficult task.

Unfortunately, the three alchemists left. Even if there were magic materials left in the shop, they weren’t worth much without an alchemist to turn them into products. If they were sold as raw materials, they wouldn’t fetch 8000 GC.

“I’m still here, Let’s wait and see”

The old butler felt that Mafa became different after he fainted in the morning and woke up. It seemed as if he became another person. The old Mafa wouldn’t have dealt with his uncle this way.

When he burned Jimmy’s right hand, he watched him screaming and groaning on the ground without any change in his expressions.

Just a few days ago, he was sighing and complaining all day.

The old butler thought Mafa was growing up, but the old master wasn’t here to witness that anymore.

While the two were talking, they heard footsteps outside. A young man in his twenties entered through the door. He was wearing a black robe with sleeves that were embroidered with the mark of a wyvern. That was the standard robe of Auckland Academy, the best magic academy on the eastern part of the kingdom.

It was obvious that this man was a student at Auckland magic academy who had advanced to the level of mage, as mages were the only ones allowed to wear black robes.

When the young man saw Pavier bandaged and covered in dust, his face changed :

“Mafa Merlin, look at what you did. My father has been working for your Merlin’s family for 30 years, now I have to clean up your mess. Is that how you repay him. Why do you want him to suffer like this?"

“Raymond, shut up”

The old butler yelled at his son.

Raymond couldn’t hold himself and began shouting without confirming the situation first. His old man has been working for Merlin family for 30 years. Now, the Goldshire chamber of commerce had declined, but he stayed to take care of the young master.

After he heard the news about the accident, Raymond has been worried that something would happen to his father, so he applied for a 10 days holiday and rushed to thousand sails city. Along the way, he heard that Farion, Rogge’s cousin took Jimmy and went to collect his debt.

Raymond grew up in thousand sails city, so how could he not be aware of Jimmy’s reputation. When he rushed to Merlin family’s mansion and saw the old butler like this, he lashed at Lin Yun.

To tell the truth, Raymond could never tolerate the sight of this young master.

Because his father was wealthy and powerful man, he could afford to spend a lot of money on his magic studies early on. His father simply gave him an alchemy shop, which consumed more than 100,000 GC every year.

Despite all that, he couldn’t advance to the rank mage. So many years passed, and so many resources were consumed, but he remained a level 9 apprentice. Raymond thought that if he was given these resources, his achievements would be unmatched.

Later, Raymond became a mage himself, then went to see Mafa but he held no jealousy in his heart that time. A mage would never envy an apprentice due to the huge gap between them. They belonged to two different worlds.

“Young master, I’m really sorry. This bastard shouting without knowing anything. I’m going to teach him a lesson and make him apologize ”

“Never mind, Raymond is still young, being impulsive is normal ”

Lin Yun said as he prepared to leave the room.

“Right, Raymond, your father is injured and needs rest. If you have nothing to do, then accompany me to the golden rose shop.”

“Wha...”

Raymond didn’t know what to say.

'Does this bastard want to die or something, How can a level 9 apprentice order a mage around.'

It was a pity though. The mage didn’t have the time to get angry because the old butler got angry first:

“ Bastard, what are you sulking about?”

“Fine, I’ll go”

Raymond grew up without a mother, So he was respectful
and fearful of his father. When the old butler got angry, the dignity of the mage vanished into thin air. After he confirmed that his father injuries weren’t serious, he took his wand and chased after Lin Yun.

It took 20 minutes, from the Merlins' mansion to the golden rose.

Along the way, Raymond gave Lin Yun a cold stare. He couldn’t wait for him to embarrass himself. Thinking about it, Raymond was certain that an apprentice who came in contact with a mage, wouldn’t miss that chance. Just forming the mana vortex alone would take a long time to explain. If Mafa wasn’t a fool, he would certainly come and ask questions one after another. And just like this, Raymond kept waiting.
